Gaviscon Forte is a medicine used to treat the discomfort associated with heartburn and acidity caused by acid reflux from the stomach. It works in 2 different ways: On the one hand, it forms a protective barrier in the stomach and, on the other hand, it neutralises excess stomach acid.
Gaviscon Forte can be taken by adults and children over 12 years of age.
You can take 1-2 sachets of Gaviscon Forte (as needed) after meals and before going to bed, up to a maximum of 8 sachets a day.
Each sachet of Gaviscon Forte contains 10 ml of oral suspension. The active ingredients are: 500 mg sodium alginate, 213 mg sodium hydrogencarbonate (bicarbonate) and 325 mg calcium carbonate. These active ingredients are accompanied by the following excipients: carbomer, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E-218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E-216), saccharin sodium, cranberry flavour, raspberry flavour, fruit flavour, sodium hydroxide and purified water. Flavourings contain propylene glycol E-1520.
Gaviscon Forte is a medicine that is easily administered orally: the sachet is opened and taken directly by mouth. It has a pleasant berry flavour. The medicine cannot and should not be taken with milk or milk products. If symptoms persist or worsen after 7 days of use, you should consult your doctor. It should be taken at least 2 hours apart from other medicines.
Do not take Gaviscon Forte if: You are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the ingredients of the medicine. You have kidney disease or kidney stones. You have high blood calcium levels or low blood folate levels. You have high amounts of calcium in your urine.
