The shape of the dummy mimics that of the mother’s nipple, making it easier for the baby to accept the dummy and ensuring greater comfort. The size of the dummy is suitable for the mouth and jaw size of newborns and infants up to 6 months old.
Before using the dummy for the first time, it is advisable to sterilise it.
Wash the dummy with warm soapy water before each use.
Place the dummy in the baby’s mouth and ensure it is correctly positioned and fitted. The teat should be as close as possible to the baby’s palate and must not be twisted.
If the baby does not take to the dummy, do not force it.
Do not dip the dummy in sugary substances or medicines, as this may affect the baby’s health.
Clean the dummy regularly with water and mild soap, and replace it every 2–3 months or if you notice any signs of wear and tear.
In babies with respiratory problems, such as sleep apnoea or bronchiolitis, using a dummy may make breathing difficult and worsen symptoms.
If not cleaned properly or shared with other babies, it can increase the risk of infections, such as a fungal infection in the mouth (oral thrush) or respiratory infections.
