What is it used for?
The OMRON M2 Basic is a home blood pressure monitor that non-invasively measures systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure and pulse rate using the oscillometric method. It is a fully electronic device distributed by Omron Healthcare. It is designed for people who need to monitor their blood pressure regularly, whether due to a diagnosis of high blood pressure, medical follow-up or prevention.
Instructions for use
- Insert the batteries into the battery compartment if this is the first time you are using the device.
- Sit comfortably with your back supported and your arm resting on a table at heart level.
- Place the cuff around your bare arm (without any tight clothing), about 2 cm above the elbow, following the visual adjustment guide which indicates whether it is correctly positioned.
- Remain still and quiet; do not speak or move during the measurement.
- Press the single start button; the device will automatically inflate the cuff and begin the measurement (IntelliSense technology).
- Wait for the measurement to finish; the display will show your systolic and diastolic blood pressure and pulse rate, along with the blood pressure level indicator and, if any irregularities are detected, the arrhythmia symbol.
- The device automatically saves the latest result in its memory so you can check it later.
- Switch off the device (or it will switch off automatically after a while) and remove the cuff.
Recommendations for use
- Always take measurements at the same time of day so that you can compare results.
- Avoid smoking, consuming caffeine or exercising in the 30 minutes prior to taking a reading.
- Do not use rechargeable batteries, as they may affect the device’s accuracy.
- Consult your doctor if you experience persistent abnormal readings; the device is a monitoring aid and is not a substitute for a professional diagnosis.
