The Beaphar Gentle Leader dog head collar helps to guide large dogs that pull on the lead. The size L, in black, is adjustable and comes as a single unit. Its design distributes control between the neck and the muzzle to facilitate changes of direction without resorting to sudden jerks.
The Gentle Leader is a dog head collar, also known as a head harness. The size L in black is designed for large dogs. The accessory fits around the neck and muzzle to guide the dog’s head whilst out on a walk.
By guiding the head, the system helps to reduce pulling and makes it easier to change direction. The Beaphar model is adjustable and comes as a single unit. It can be used to support lead training, always with gentle movements and gradual adjustment.
First, adjust the neck strap so that it sits high and securely. Next, position the nose loop over the muzzle without preventing the dog from opening its mouth. Check both points before attaching the lead. During the first few uses, keep sessions short and reward the dog for tolerating the harness.
This size is designed for large dogs, including those with enough strength to make walking with a conventional collar difficult. The fit should be determined by the actual measurements of the head and neck. The breed size is for guidance only.
Do not apply jerks or sudden corrections. Remove the harness when the walk is over and do not leave it on without supervision. Check seams, fastenings and straps before each use. If it causes chafing or the dog cannot pant normally, stop using it and readjust it.
