What is Magnogene 53 mg and what is it for?

Magnogene is a medicine indicated for the prevention and treatment of low magnesium levels, which manifest as weakness and muscle cramps, as a result of diets poor in vegetables, whole grains and pulses.

It comes in a handy 45-tablet pack.

Who can take Magnogene magnesium?

Magnogene 53 mg capsules are intended for use by adults and adolescents over 12 years of age who need an extra supply of magnesium, especially in situations of increased physical or mental strain.

How do I take Magnogene magnesium tablets?

Take 2 Magnogene magnesium tablets after each meal, twice a day. To make it easier to take, it is advisable to take them with a glass of water. Remember not to exceed the recommended dose.

Contraindications

Do not use Magnogene:

  • In children under 12 years of age without medical supervision.
  • In cases of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
  • In patients with impaired renal function, renal failure, hereditary galactose intolerance, Lapp's lactase insufficiency, glucose or galactose malabsorption, diabetic coma, myasthenia gravis, chronic diarrhoea, ulcerative colitis, ileostomy, symptoms of appendicitis.

Precautions

  • Medical supervision in concomitant intake with tetracyclines, quinolones, bisphosphonates, calcium and calcium-rich foods.
  • Pregnancy and lactation, medical evaluation.
  • Do not take this medicine on an empty stomach, as it may cause diarrhoea.

Composition of Magnogene

The active substance in Magnogene is magnesium.

The composition of Magnogene tablets is as follows: Each tablet contains 53 mg of magnesium from 125.06 mg magnesium hydroxide, 7.17 mg magnesium bromide and 0.34 mg magnesium fluoride.

As excipients, contains: Sodium chloride, sodium iodide, Lactose, Maize starch, Povidone, Macrogol 4000/10000, Magnesium stearate, 30 % methacrylic acid and ethyl acrylate copolymer dispersion (1:1), Calcium carbonate, Sucrose, Talc, Gum arabic, Titanium dioxide (E-171), Macrogol 6000.

Like all medicines, Magnogene can cause side effects:

  • Gastrointestinal disturbances, watery diarrhoea, vomiting.
