What is the Vaginecalm Ovulation Test and what is it used for?

Vaginecalm Ovulation Test (10 tests ) is a test designed to qualitatively detect the rise in luteinising hormone (LH) in urine. Detecting the LH surge helps to identify the days leading up to ovulation and estimate the most fertile period of the menstrual cycle.

If you’re wondering what Vaginecalm Ovulation Test is used for, its main function is to help determine when ovulation is approaching through a simple urine test that can be carried out at home.

The pack contains 10 ovulation tests, allowing you to carry out tests over several consecutive days to detect the rise in LH.

Who is the Vaginecalm Ovulation Test suitable for?

Vaginecalm Ovulation Test is particularly suitable for women of childbearing age who wish to gain a better understanding of their menstrual cycle and identify the days leading up to ovulation.

Detecting the LH surge can be useful for identifying the period of greatest fertility when trying to conceive. However, the test does not guarantee that ovulation will occur or that pregnancy will result.

How should Vaginecalm Ovulation Test be used?

To know how to use the Vaginecalm Ovulation Test, you first need to know the approximate length of your usual menstrual cycle. The first day of the cycle corresponds to the first day of your period.

According to the product information, the recommended time to start testing is:

  • 21–22-day cycle: start on day 6.
  • 23–24-day cycle: start on day 7.
  • 25-day cycle: start on day 8.
  • 26-day cycle: start on day 9.
  • 27-day cycle: start on day 10.
  • 28-day cycle: start on day 11.
  • 29-day cycle: start on day 12.
  • 30-day cycle: start on day 13.
  • 31-day cycle: start on day 14.

Instructions for use of the Vaginecalm Ovulation Test

Remove the Vaginecalm ovulation test from its packaging just before carrying out the test.

  1. Collect your urine in a clean, dry container.
  2. Dip the absorbent end of the test strip into the sample for approximately 5 seconds, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
  3. Do not immerse the test strip above the line marked ‘MAX’.
  4. Remove it and place it on a clean, dry, non-absorbent surface.
  5. Wait for the coloured lines to appear.
  6. Read the result between 3 and 10 minutes.
  7. Do not read the result after 15 minutes.

To ensure consistent results, always follow the instructions supplied with the product and try to carry out the tests under similar conditions each day.

How do I interpret the results of the Vaginecalm ovulation test?

The result of the Vaginecalm Ovulation Test is interpreted by comparing the test line (T) with the control line (C):

  • LH surge: two lines appear and the test line (T) is as intense as or more intense than the control line (C). The result indicates that an increase in LH has been detected and that ovulation may be imminent.
  • No LH surge: only the control line (C) appears, or the test line (T) is fainter than the control line. In this case, no LH surge has been detected and it is recommended that you continue testing on the following days.
  • Invalid result: the control line (C) does not appear. The test must be repeated using a new test strip.

Vaginecalm Ovulation and Fertile Days Test

A rise in luteinising hormone usually occurs before ovulation. Therefore, detecting the LH surge can help to identify the days of the cycle when ovulation is most likely to occur.

A positive result indicates that this hormonal surge has been detected, but does not in itself confirm that ovulation has occurred or is about to occur. The length of the cycle and the timing of ovulation can vary between women and between different cycles in the same person.

Precautions when using the Vaginecalm Ovulation Test

According to the instructions provided with the product, it is not recommended to use the first urine of the morning. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions regarding the most suitable time to collect the sample.

Certain conditions and hormonal treatments may affect LH levels and, consequently, the interpretation of the result. If you have very irregular cycles, obtain results that are difficult to interpret, or have concerns regarding fertility, consult a healthcare professional.

Pharmacist’s advice on Vaginecalm Ovulation Test

To detect the LH surge more easily, carry out the tests over several consecutive days, following the schedule corresponding to the usual length of your cycle.

Read the instructions for use of the Vaginecalm Ovulation Test carefully before carrying out the test. Remember that this product helps to estimate the period around ovulation, but it is not a method of contraception nor does it diagnose fertility problems.
