PEDIASURE

What is PediaSure and what is it used for?

When a child leaves half their plate uneaten or simply refuses to eat, it’s a real cause for concern at home. PediaSure was created precisely for such moments: a nutritional supplement backed by Abbott Laboratories — with over 130 years’ experience and a presence in more than 150 countries — which meets the nutritional needs of children aged 1 to 10 who do not always eat as much as they should.

It is not a meal replacement. PediaSure is a partner that supports families as they work together to improve their children’s eating habits.

What makes PediaSure different?

The PediaSure formula provides protein, essential fatty acids, calcium, vitamin D, iron and 27 vitamins and minerals. Each nutrient plays a specific role:

  • Essential fatty acids (ALA and LA) are necessary for children’s normal growth and development.
  • Calcium and vitamin D contribute to normal bone development.
  • Iron supports children’s normal cognitive development.
  • Vitamin D also supports the healthy functioning of children’s immune systems.

All this in a format that children enjoy: in a taste test involving 100 Spanish children aged between 4 and 7, more than 90 liked the taste of PediaSure.

Available formats and flavours

PediaSure suits every family:

PediaSure shakes: no preparation needed – just shake and it’s ready. Available in two flavours: PediaSure Chocolate and PediaSure Vanilla.

PediaSure powder: mix with 190 ml of water (not milk, to maintain the nutritional profile stated on the label). Available in four flavours: PediaSure Strawberry, Vanilla, Chocolate, and Cookies & Cream. It can also be incorporated into recipes.

Both formats are gluten-free (in accordance with Regulation 828/2014) and suitable for those with lactose intolerance. They are also suitable for children with egg or nut allergies.

PediaSure Teen Balance: nutrition designed for teenagers

From the age of 11, nutritional needs change. PediaSure Teen Balance is a dietary supplement specifically formulated to support growth during adolescence.

Its formula is notable for its high calcium content to support bone development during this period of peak growth, vitamin D to support the immune system, and iron which contributes to concentration and memory — two key factors in academic performance.

PediaSure for teenagers is available in powder form, in chocolate and vanilla flavours, and is suitable for those who are lactose-intolerant and gluten-free.

How and when should PediaSure be taken?

PediaSure can be taken with main meals or between meals, such as at breakfast or as an afternoon snack. It is a supplement, not a substitute: the idea is that it provides additional nutrition whilst the child moves towards a more varied diet.

If the family is working on establishing better habits, there are some routines that make a real difference: eating together at the table, without screens, with parents sharing the same food as their children. Children learn by watching, and consistency pays off.

If, after several weeks of support, the child continues to persistently refuse food, it is best to consult the paediatrician, as there may sometimes be underlying physiological causes.
